The community was named after Monkton, New Brunswick by Robert Cummings, a Pennsylvanian.
NCR Trail
The Northern Central Railroad Trail, officially known as the Torrey C. Brown Trail, covers nearly 20 miles in Maryland, continuing north an additional 20 miles to York, PA.
